(Correspondent: Liu Qianqian)On the afternoon of May 27, the 2026 Graduate Training Program Review Meeting of the School of Foreign Languages was successfully held in Room 308 of the Liberal Arts Building. Professor Cai Shengqin of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Professor Xiong Bing of Central China Normal University, Associate Professor Danli Li of Wuhan University, Professor Li Minjie of South-Central Minzu University, Professor Dan Haijian of Wuhan University of Technology, and Mr. Zhang Hua, General Manager of Transn IOL Technology Co., Ltd., were invited to attend the meeting and provide expert guidance and recommendations. Members of the leadership team of the School of Foreign Languages, heads of disciplinary areas, faculty representatives, teaching secretaries, as well as representatives of graduate students and graduates also attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Yang Zhi, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages.
Wang Huoli, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, expressed his sincere gratitude to the experts for their attendance and guidance. He emphasized that the revision of the graduate training programs is an important foundation for promoting the high-quality development of graduate education. The School will carefully implement the recommendations of the expert panel and complete the revision to a high standard, thereby laying a solid foundation for the long-term development of the discipline of foreign languages.
Subsequently, Professor He Guanghui and Associate Professor Yang Zhi, who are responsible for the respective disciplinary areas, introduced the background of the revision, curriculum arrangements, major adjustments, and distinctive features of the training programs for academic and professional master's degree students, respectively.
The review session was chaired by Professor Cai Shengqin. After carefully listening to the presentations, the participating experts conducted an in-depth review of the training programs in accordance with the latest national requirements for talent cultivation, taking into consideration the latest developments in the discipline, industry needs, and students’ actual development. From the perspectives of scientific rigor, standardization, and forward-looking development, they put forward valuable recommendations on refining the distinctive features of the training objectives, optimizing curriculum arrangements, highlighting the School’s strengths, and strengthening practical components. They emphasized that the revision of the training programs should accurately grasp the latest national requirements for foreign language talent cultivation, proactively respond to the actual needs of the industry, and focus on reflecting the trends of the times and future development.
Finally, representatives of graduate students and graduates put forward recommendations on curriculum arrangements, practical components, and employment orientation based on their own learning and employment experiences.
The successful convening of this review meeting has brought together the expertise and insights of experts for the high-quality revision of the graduate training programs of the School of Foreign Languages, and will effectively promote the high-quality development of graduate education in Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Master of Translation and Interpreting program.
