(Correspondent: Pan Jun)To gain an in-depth understanding of students’ learning needs, effectively improve the quality of College English teaching, and deliver solid guidance for the CET-4 preparation, the First College English Teaching Section of the School of Foreign Languages held a teacher-student forum on College English teaching in Room L1201 on April 16, 2026. Chen Bin, Director of the College English Teaching Section, and Pan Jun, Deputy Director, presided over the meeting. All teachers of the teaching section and student representatives from various non-English major classes of the 2025 intake attended the forum.

At the meeting, student representatives, drawing on feedback widely collected from classmates before the forum, spoke openly and exchanged views actively around two major topics. Regarding classroom teaching, homework arrangements and learning outcomes of College English (Semester 2), students suggested adding more in-class interaction and practical activities, optimizing the types and volume of homework, strengthening the explanation of key and difficult points together with timely feedback. They also hoped to receive clearer guidance on learning strategies and knowledge points.
As for CET-4 preparation for the next semester, student representatives shared their difficulties and confusion about review plans covering the four modules: listening, reading, writing and translation. They generally expected more targeted skill training, supplementary preparation materials, systematic review plans and support for mock exercises.

Teachers present listened carefully and took detailed notes, responding one by one to the questions raised by students. Director Chen Bin stated that the teaching section would sort out and adopt reasonable suggestions from students, optimize classroom teaching design and homework arrangements promptly, and fully carry out special tutoring for CET-4 preparation to provide students with more accurate and efficient teaching support.
This forum has built a sound bridge for communication between teachers and students, helped precisely identify students’ learning demands and clarified priorities for teaching improvement and CET-4 preparation. Moving forward, the College English Teaching Section of the School of Foreign Languages will continue to be student-oriented, steadily improve teaching and service quality, and help students enhance their English proficiency and pass rates of CET-4.
