(Correspondents: Li Yuning and Liu Yinlu)To help students in the Class of 2024 prepare systematically for the upcoming Test for English Majors-Band 4 (TEM-4), the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) held a mobilization meeting for the TEM-4 examination on March 12. Wang Wei, head of the English major, Yan Xi, a member of the TEM-4 tutoring team, and all students in the Class of 2024 majoring in English and in the “English Plus” dual-major program attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Zhang Yunfeng, with four high-performing students from the Class of 2023 invited to share their preparation experiences.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Zhang emphasized the significance of the TEM-4 examination. As a national standardized test, the TEM-4 certificate serves not only as a recognized indicator of the core competitiveness of English majors, but also as a basic professional standard that English majors are expected to meet. He introduced the School’s TEM-4 preparation and training program, learning platforms, and preparation resources, and guided students through the question types, examination content, and test procedures. He encouraged students to make full use of the valuable time remaining before the examination, consolidate their foundations, address their weaknesses, and make thorough preparations for the test.

Four outstanding students from the Class of 2023 then took the stage one after another to share their preparation experiences. Drawing on their own preparation practices, Sun Jingjing, Li Zixuan, Liang Jiaqi, and Luo Yutong shared their insights from various perspectives, including question-type analysis, time management, strategies for different sections, and examination mindset adjustment. Focusing on the key challenges and test-taking skills associated with different question types, they introduced effective preparation methods and quality learning resources with the aid of practical examples. Their well-organized preparation plans and effective implementation, together with their solid test-taking abilities and composed examination mindsets, provided valuable inspiration for the students in attendance.

In conclusion, Mr. Zhang called on all students to take the outstanding senior students as role models, develop scientifically sound preparation plans based on their individual circumstances, and put those plans into practice through their daily studies. All faculty members of the School of Foreign Languages will work alongside the students in the Class of 2024 and provide solid support throughout their preparation. The School looks forward to seeing students achieve excellent results in the upcoming TEM-4 examination and make new breakthroughs.
